An attempt was made to analyze the development and the various indications of the financial & economic crisis in Bulgaria, resulting in advisable macroeconomic policies. The liquidity crisis imposes sensitive restrictions and impedes the economic growth. Consequently the expectations are directed to the Bulgarian National Bank’s capability to weaken the crisis and unconditionally to the government to make our country more attractive as an investment destination.

The results of a study are outlined here, aiming at assessment of the effects of EU CAP measures and tools on farms of various structures and degrees of specialization, on the grounds of a comparative analysis.

The study is based on three surveys, carried out in 2007 and 2008; on data on the economic results of the monitored farms, listed in the Agricultural and Accounting Information Management System; and on official statistical information.It covers the effect of each CAP measure and tool on the structural changes, the levels of revenues, productivity and effectiveness of the industries, market orientation, farm cooperation and integration processes.

The status and development of renewable and alternative energy sources (RES) in Bulgaria until the year 2020 were analyzed. The advantages of the generation of Green Energy from biomass, water, solar, wind and geo thermal plants are highlighted. The basic factors of the effects on each RES are studied, as well as the encountered problems and their settlement. The structural trends and priorities from the RES portfolio are determined and the directions for their further development in Bulgaria on this basis.

At attempt was made to recapitulate the problems facing the higher education system in Bulgaria, analyzing its status in the context of the European education. The effects of external and internal factors for our country are presented, pursuant to the characteristic features of the state. The factors having the greatest impact on the Bulgarian higher education system are studied in terms of the reforms therein. The financial issues in this sphere are analyzed. Possible solutions are pointed out and evidences are given that the higher education should play a decisive role in shaping an adequate organization proficiency. The study is based on qualitative methods.

The results of an empirical analysis of the consumer behavior are presented in view of the demand of foods in Bulgaria. The principles of income allocation in the family budgets for food expenses are presented on the grounds of regression and correlation analysis. A preference tree is outlined, specifying the consumer motivations and describing the causal chain of food demand.

The importance and place of public-private partnership (PPP) for implementation of key investment and other projects is focused. At attempt was made to update the definition of this concept. The implications for PPP development are elucidated in the global environment, featuring the experience of the United Kingdom, Ireland and other countries in Western Europe and worldwide with lessons for Bulgaria. The advantages and shortcomings of the forms of financing of public projects are specified.

This is a review of biographic details and facts about Luca de Pacioli. His contribution not only for accounting, but also for mathematical knowledge and the theoretical explanation of economic facts and events, especially in view of double accounting is estimated. The dilemma is contemplated whether to call Pacioli a founder or discoverer and a conclusion was made, that having discovered the double accounting his was the first to rationalize the dual aspect nature of capital.
